Harvey began playing drums at his grandfather's church only a few miles south of Chicago when he was a boy and has grown into a well-versed, genre-neutral drummer who appreciates the beauty of many types of music. Displaying an enthralling talent for deep pockets and improvised spontaneity Harvey enjoys performing with the Common Time Band, a Jazzusionock band. Common Time composes and performs creative music compositions that reimagine instrumental pop.

Harvey has performed for a variety of national and independent acts, including R&B vocalist Christopher Williams, Richard Brooks (Brooks Brothers), Doug Allen and the Chicago Mob, and the late Lil' Dave Thompson, in addition to Common Time. He's opened for the Staples Singers and Silk, and he's performed at a slew of events both near and far, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
